I laughed and I cried…..and laughed……..and cried……throughout the entire book! This book was so real (yes even with the heroine seeing her mother’s ghost) and the emotion in it will stay with me for a long, long time!
Here is the what the book is all about 😉 :
Sometimes the dead need our help and sometimes, we need theirs.
ANGELA PANTHER HAS A PERFECT LIFE: A lovely home, an attentive, successful husband, two reasonably behaved children, a devoted dog and a lot of coffee and cupcakes. But while her life might border on mundane, she’s got it under control. Until her mother, Fran dies-and returns as a ghost. It seems Fran’s got some unfinished business and she’s determined to get it done.
Now Fran’s got some nifty celestial superpowers and isn’t opposed to using them to levy a little ghostly retribution on her granddaughter’s frienemies and even her own
daughter, which doesn’t make Angela happy.
While Angela’s shocked and grateful to have her mother back, she’s not thrilled about the portal to the afterlife Fran opened upon her return. Now every ghost in town is knockin’ on Angela’s psychic door, looking for help-and it’s a royal pain in the
Now Angela’s got to find a way to balance her family life with her new gift and keep her mother in line. And it’s a lot for one woman to handle.
Carolyn Ridder Aspenson tackles, with comic cleverness, the serious subjects of mother-daughter relationships, death and raising teenagers in this smart, funny take on the love of family and the uncontrollable paths our lives take.
Unfinished Business, An Angela Panther Novel is the first in this paranormal chick lit series by author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Look inside the book to discover the

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
Who wouldn’t want just one more chance to tell their loved ones how they feel? How much they love them? This book is my declaration of love to the woman who was patient and loving enough to raise me. I know if she could, my ma would come back in death and annoy and love me just as fiercely as she did in life.
Angela is a perfectly normal 40ish woman with two kids and a wonderful husband. It’s a good life and she has spent the last little bit nursing her mother. She is heartbroken when her mother passes, but still helps her kids understand that their Grandma is in a better place. One of the things I truly love about this book is Angela and her family are just regular people, dealing with real life.
I felt the complete love and support in this family as if I was a part of them. The fact that her husband listens to her and eventually backs her in something he finds so unbelievable is what real love is about. Granted Fran gives Angela some help convincing Jake……here’s a peek:
My mother, who had stayed silent through the bulk of this conversation, thank God, groaned. “Ang, I have an idea.”
“Okay,” I said to both of them.
My mother floated behind Jake. “Tell him I know about the prostitute.”
My mouth dropped. I looked at my mother and then back at Jake. “What’s this about a prostitute, Jake?” Admittedly, I might have said that just a little too loud, bu who wouldn’t? A prostitute?
Jake jerked his head back and forth, and I was pretty sure he was looking for my mother. “Oh my God,” he laughed. Laughed! “Holy shit, it is true. Your mother really is a ghost, isn’t she?”
That didn’t help me understand about the prostitute, and apparently my mother found that funny too because she was doing the whole head bob laugh thing again.
I, however, did not find it the least bit funny. “Someone had better tell me about the freaking prostitute.” I clenched my teeth so tight I think I chipped one. “Right now.”
I guarantee you will laugh out loud when you read the rest of this conversation. My husband thought I was crazy…LOL
There is a serious issue that is happening in the background as well that has to do with Angela’s teenage daughter. Sometimes having a ghost on your side can make all the difference.
Again, you will laugh, and you will cry, but this book is worth every emotion it forced from me.
