NEW REVIEW – Bad Medicine (The Lizzie Hart Mysteries) by Caroline Fardig

SORRY ALL – PICTURES ARE COMING SOON THEY WOULDN’T UPLOAD! 😬

What do a smokin’ hot detective, an evil chiropractor, and a couple of blind dates from hell have in common?

Lizzie has to wrangle them all in the third book of THE LIZZIE HART MYSTERIES series!
MY THOUGHTS 😎💕

Oh man Caroline Fardig is one of my all time favorites!!! This is the third book in The Lizzie Hart Mysteries and you will NOT be disappointed!! Lizzie is seriously one of my favorite reluctant sleuths. That girl can find trouble anywhere…and I’m pretty sure she’s the origin of Murphy’s Law…LOL However it comes to be, she puts her heart and soul into everything she does and somehow it works out as it should. Thank goodness because once you bond with Lizzie you will be comparing her to other detectives and asking yourself “What would Lizzie do?” I’m really not kidding…I read a similar genre book right after Bad Medicine and all I could do was compare that heroine to Lizzie 😊

BLURB

Lizzie Hart is overjoyed that six whole months have passed without a single murder in the sleepy town of Liberty. It’s also been six months since Blake Morgan heartlessly dumped her, but she’s determined to get over him. She’s slimmed down, ready to party, and injury-free, except for a little nagging pain in her ankle. She’s also very single, but her friends are doing everything in their power to fix that—including setting her up on one disastrous blind date after another.

Lizzie’s reprieve is short-lived when an old friend of hers is found dead from an apparent drug overdose. She wants to write it off as bad behavior after having seen the guy cheating on his wife with the new chiropractor in town. However, when she sees that same chiropractor playing doctor with another man who ends up dead, she worries there could be murder afoot.

Doing her best to stay on the right side of the law this time, Lizzie decides to go straight to the police with her suspicions. Unfortunately, the only cop available to speak with her is the stern yet hot new detective who has already given her a traffic ticket and a reprimand for public intoxication. Not surprisingly, he brushes her off, leaving her no choice but to begin snooping on her own. Lizzie soon learns she’s going to need help to get to the bottom of this mystery, but her best partner in crime solving, Blake, has turned into her worst enemy.

Can Lizzie and Blake find a way to work together to catch the killer…or will they kill each other first?

REVIEW – FANTASY – Seducer Fey (Genetic Fey Series Book 1) by Cullyn Royson

SeducerFeyCoverI wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this book, but it was addictive!!  I’m always a little worried when I begin a fantasy book, because it is not my usual genre.  I need the book to give me background and explain things without going on and on.  This book more than delivered!!  It explained in such a way that I felt I had an understanding of the characters, but also left room for me to discover more unique qualities and abilities throughout the entire book!  That is so rare!  Let’s begin with the book’s blurb:

When the fairies of Celtic mythology are combined with genetic engineering, youth and charisma can be sold.

The mid-twenty-first century has brought about advancements for social justice and genetic engineering. Fluid gender identity and sexuality are widely accepted in society. The scientific quest for immortality is more popular than ever. Physical appeal, however, isn’t just about youthfulness. Any researcher who discovers the secret to charisma will make millions.

During a prospective college visit to Dalhousie University, Danny and her crush, Cassidy, are invited to the home of an eerily captivating student named Taban. There Danny learns that her DNA could be used to create a form of genetic therapy to give people longer lives for a hefty price. Danny’s life is at risk because her rights to her DNA would get in the way of this plan. Cassidy vows to protect her friend. Unfortunately for the two young women, Taban has other motives.

While this book was primarily about Danny and journey to learn more about herself and her genetics, I really felt most of the characters had starring roles.  We really were able to get into the heads of each character and learn quite a bit about who they are, what they can do,  and how they think.  I feel like I could befriend each one and that includes Donovan, who doesn’t say much. :-)

I really loved the strong friendship between Danny and Cassidy.  It was true and really could withstand anything.   From the beginning it is clear that Danny is a bit immature when compared to Cassidy, but it fit perfectly within the friendship and what we learn in this book.  I liked that no matter the events happening, neither friend ever doubted the other and knew they could count on each other.  Isn’t that what we all hope for?!?

One of the things I love about reading is getting lost in the story and connecting with the characters.  In this book I couldn’t decide who I wanted to know more about!  I really loved that sexuality was completely open and acceptable in this book.  Essentially, anything goes and nothing is judged.  LOVE THAT!  I don’t know how to explain it so it’ll make sense and not offend anyone so you are just going to have to grab it up to see for yourself!  Suffice to say that nothing was predictable!

I am very happy this is only book 1 and I cannot wait to read more about these amazing characters!!

REVIEW – Fiancee by Fate by Jennifer Shirk

20140414-190746.jpgBlurb

Their fake relationship is a twist of fate.

Sabrina Cassidy believes in fate. So when her fiancé breaks off their engagement, she’s convinced they’ll get back together eventually. But fate was not on her side when it brought Jack Brenner into her life—and work. Frustrating, gorgeous, and cocky, Jack has an offer that Sabrina can’t refuse. Not if it means getting the life she’s always imagined.

Despite being one of the town’s most eligible bachelors, Jack has a reputation that’s working against him. He has to convince his father—and his company’s board—that he’s ready to settle down if he wants a promotion. But convincing Sabrina to be his fake girlfriend turns out to be the easiest part. What he didn’t count on was their intense attraction and how easily their lie would escalate. Sabrina’s still hung up on her ex, and Jack will never settle down. But fate has other ideas…

My Thoughts

This was such a sweet story that is definitely based on fate.  Sabrina is superstitious and definitely thinks fate dropped her fiancée into her life.  When he “temporarily” calls off the engagement she believes whole heartedly that he will come back to her.  After 3 years together and all the coincidences there is no other alternative, is there?

Enter Jack…

Jack is too good looking for his own good and Sabrina is definitely NOT looking.  In fact her and Jack can’t stop sniping at each other.  However, Jack’s father believes he needs to settle down and realize there is more to life than work.  Jack can’t see too far past eventually running the company and is willing to do just about anything to gain the board’s approval.

It is so fun to watch Jack and Sabrina come together.  I especially love that Jack does learn that there is more to life than work…..but is it too late?  Don’t miss this story!!  You will fall in love with all the characters!!

REVIEW – Wild About Her Wingman by Robin Bielman

20140414-190849.jpgBlurb

Playing it safe never felt so risky.

Erin Watters is her small town’s resident wild child—she doesn’t do boring, and after having her heart annihilated, she definitely doesn’t do relationships. Her friends have other ideas, though, and when they throw down a matchmaking challenge, impulsive Erin can’t ignore it. Even when the annoyingly hot Troy Strieber accepts the matchmaker role…

As a rescue paramedic, Troy’s used to watching out for people. Never mind the bet he made with his buddy to play Erin’s wingman. But the more time he spends with the sexy, charismatic woman, the more he discovers a side of her she doesn’t let many see. Soon what started as an innocent game of matchmaking has them both thinking about the person right under their nose. But Troy’s a play-it-safe guy, and he won’t let a woman who lives for risk ever steal his heart.

My Thoughts

The bet spun out of control so quickly.  Erin is sitting around having beers with friends and before she knows it, she has her very own wingman!  No problem, right?  Maybe she will get lucky and Troy will find her a great guy?  And thankfully, her and Troy would never work so she doesn’t have to worry about that.  After all, what would Mr. Safety want with a daredevil?

The problem?  The chemistry between the two is off the charts!  Each is determined to keep a distance from the other, but some things are undeniable… and unavoidable!

Do not miss the awesome connection between Erin and Troy.  It was a truly wonderful story to fall into!

REVIEW – Resisting the Rancher by Roxanne Snopek

20140414-190647.jpgBlurb

She’s his best friend’s sister, but he’s ready to break all the rules…

Country veterinarian Celia Gamble is in trouble. A misunderstanding from her past is rearing its ugly head and the only person she can turn to is Jonah Clarke—her family’s lawyer and, as it turns out, her brother Zach’s best friend and her childhood crush. She always wanted Jonah to see her as a bona fide woman, but as a woman who’s being wrongfully blackmailed for seducing a married man? Not on her life.

Jonah is happy to help little CeeCee Gamble, if only she’d come clean about why she’s being blackmailed. But with Zach’s wedding on the horizon and Zach’s fashionista fiancée Desiree giving CeeCee a makeover, the little duckling Jonah remembers is turning into a definite swan.

And the unwritten law on sisters is clear—hands off.

Jonah must resist Celia or lose the only true family he’s ever known.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this story!  It had that big-brothers-best-friend-crush, a mystery, a whacko, and a woman with the best intentions that just can’t seem to come out on top.  That doesn’t even cover the all-grown-up version of her crush!

CeeCee is a girl that just wanted to fit in with the big boys and prove herself.  Now that she has grown up and made a HUGE mistake she just want to start over in her hometown.  Jonah has always seen CeeCee, but never considered anything like a relationship since he is Zach’s best friend. He swore to help watch out for her growing up.

However, as Des makes CeeCee over piece by piece, he can no longer deny that she is all woman! The back and forth between the two is real, and hard, and different.  They both have very valid reasons that makes them think they can’t be together.

This story was very sweet and had so many characters that just came alive. This was not the first book in the series, but it is a stand alone story. You can bet that I will be after the rest of the books now!

REVIEW – HEiRESS, P.i. by Amanda Mahan

heiresspiIf you read the blurb for this book, I can guarantee you will get all that and MORE!  Lucy is happier playing in the dirt than glamming it up, but she will do anything to help Holden.  Yes, some of the issues stars deal with Lucy falls face first into, but the way they come about will have you rolling on the floor.

Blurb:

Meet Lucy Hansen. She’s the richest teenager in the world – and possibly the shyest. She doesn’t flash her business to the paparazzi as she’s getting out of limos or send selfies while smoking salvia. No, Lucy hides behind her frizzy bangs, environmental causes and organic hemp-blend sweats. Her one true friend (and secret crush) Holden is the poorest kid in Beverly Hills – and probably the scrappiest. He interns for a famous private investigator, and when he asks Lucy to help him crack a case, her life turns from tame to tabloid, from glum to glam, from private to private eye. And when the trail leads directly to her hotel magnate father, it’s up to Lucy to solve the case by infiltrating Hollywood’s most elite and unwelcoming club: Celebutantes. Teens who are famous for, well… being famous.

Along the way, “LuHan” endures wardrobe malfunctions, fake romances, compromising videos-turned-YouTube hits, unflattering mug shots and – worst of all – a makeover. Now Lucy has to save her father, dodge the paparazzi, and keep her IRL ID on the DL – all while maybe, almost, possibly having her first real kiss.

If you’ve ever read the tabloids and wondered, “What was she thinking?” then HEIRESS, P.I. offers one possible answer.

Lucy is bold and fearless once she puts her mind to something.  When she makes a name for herself she goes ALL OUT!  The wardrobe malfunction that happens to Lucy had tears running down my face….from laughter!  Everything that Lucy does she does with gusto.

I absolutely loved this story and would love to read more about Lucy!  You cannot help but love her and what she stands for.  You’ll love how Holden bribes her to do some investigating for him! This book is sweet, funny, and intense.  Some of the situations Lucy gets herself into get pretty hairy.

Don’t miss this book!

REVIEW – Fighting for You by January Valentine

20140325-121549.jpg

This book is told from Jewelia’s point of view and at first my brain was spinning with the way her mind works! You quickly realize that this is just Jewelia….she’s crazy and erratic and so REAL! You can’t help but fall face first into this story as you get into her mind.

Jewelia and Indigo’s relationship is powerful and turbulent from the moment they first lock eyes in the coffee shop. Jewelia is so out there for you to see (granted it is told from her POV), and Indigo is locked down so tight.

Throughout the story Indigo flashes hot and cold and we can’t begin to decipher what is going on in his big brain. We want so badly for him to open up and show us his pain, but he feels he has to keep that part of himself separate from Jewelia. It is such a struggle to the very end…..

I absolutely loved this book and I am quite sure I will be reading it again, just before the next one comes out! The next book will be told from Indigo’s POV and normally I wouldn’t care to read the same story again……but Indigo is so very damaged and I am dying to see his side of this story. I’m so happy that I will essentially get twice the book as there were many scenes I would have loved to get more of!

Blurb:

Fighting For You is a revised edition of original title: Head Over Wheels New Adult Romance

Until she realizes, leaving him seems the only protection from heartbreak.

About to begin his residency at NYU Medical center, Indigo’s plan is to rescue every child who needs him, even if it sucks the life out of him. He doesn’t remember what happiness feels like. When they are put to the test, will they be able to prove their love for one another or will others step in and take their place?

**This contains graphic sexual content and situations suitable for readers 18**

My thoughts:

This is another one of those books that tries really hard to get that vein in my head to POP!!  Holy smokes, the intensity of feelings between these two is such that nothing else seems important.  They are trying so hard to continue on with their lives and yet keep circling back.  Even if they know it can’t last.

I don’t want to talk about the parts that really hit me between the eyes because you should experience them yourself as they come.  It’s tricky, but I can guarantee you will be hooked on this book very quickly.  You don’t have to read the first one to understand this one, but I highly recommend it.  That book knocked me on my rear end as well!   Grab this book up RIGHT NOW!!!

Excerpt

Nat, if there’s any point in time when you doubt how I feel about you, I want you talk to me, don’t bail on me,” he says piercing me with those gorgeous green eyes.

“I won’t.  We only have to wait a year until you’re home,” I say with a smile.

“Yep, one year.  Plus we’ll see each other when I’m around home for concerts, and you’re going to stay with me a few days when you can,” he says with a knowing look.

“Yes babe, I told you I would,” I say with a smile as I lean in and softly press my lips to his.

Before I can register what he’s doing he has me lying on my back and he’s settled between my thighs kissing me silly.

teaser 3“Round two,” he says with a wink as he quickly moves down my body to my sensitive spot.  He wastes no time getting me ready for more of him.  His tongue hits my sacred spot, making my body jump.  Parker makes sure I’m not going anywhere as he continues his tongue assault on my body, then thrusting two fingers inside my aching walls.

“Please babe, I need you inside of me,” I whimper.

“I will soon, I’m enjoying tasting you,” he says before he dives back in with his tongue making me moan louder.

It doesn’t take Parker long to have me reaching bliss and calling him all sorts of God-like names.

My body feels like mush, but I can’t get enough of him.  I wish I could have him every day, but that’s what makes our times together even more special.

Soon Parker is pushing inside my wet core waking my insides back up.  I lean up towards Parker to kiss him. I wrap my arms around his neck, allowing my fingers to play in his sexy messed-up hair.

I wrap my legs firmly around Parker’s waist wanting him to push even deeper inside of me.

SALE ENDS TODAY!! and REVIEW – The Storms That Fated Us by JP Summers!!

image

This book was VERY intense! I there were times during this book where I heaved a huge sigh of relief and thought I would finally be able to put the book down for the night……then I would read just one more paragraph (sometimes it was just the next sentence) and BAM something else would happen!

Well I will just tell you up front, this book will suck you in and not let you got until the very end! It is worth every single minute you spend with it! It was emotional and intense and life-threatening. I was thinking toward the beginning that it was going to be two people stuck in this palace of a cabin with no real threat…….BOY WAS I WRONG! They are not only fighting each other and themselves, but Mother Nature too! The place is literally falling down around them! Many times Tia wonders which she should be more afraid of – Mother Nature or Carson’s rage against her!

Grab this book today while it is still on sale for $0.99!!!!!!!

Book Blurb:

As Tia Deltoro’s twenty-third birthday approaches, she looks forward to meeting up with her old high school friends and hitting the ski slopes. But what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway in a beautiful cottage overlooking the mountains turns out to be a hellish nightmare when Tia unmistakably recognizes the person delivering their firewood. It has been five years since Tia graduated from New Holston High, yet she remains emotionally shackled to her past, or more specifically, to her ex-best friend Carson Rodriguez, the man holding the bundle of firewood. When he accuses Tia of setting up their chance meeting she fires back, running him off.

Unfortunately for these two former friends, Mother Nature decides to show them an intervention they’ll never forget! The drastic shift in weather conditions causes Carson to return and wait out the horrific weather conditions in the confinements of the cottage with Tia.

While the storm rages outside, the two distance themselves to opposite sides of the living room for their own protection. Tia keeps herself distracted by looking at the old high school yearbooks she had packed in preparation for planning the upcoming reunion. Through a series of flashbacks, the memories come flooding back. She can’t help but wonder how things could have gone differently if her ex-boyfriend Evan didn’t always lure her back into his corrupting grasp or if Carson’s on-again-off-again girlfriend Erin hadn’t been so conniving. In the end, all of the jealousy, secrets, and lies severed the ties that had held their four year friendship together.

With the strong winds from this blizzard of mass destruction leveling their only means of shelter one window and roof tile at a time, only one question remains… Will Tia and Carson be able to put aside their anger towards each other long enough to survive another storm?
