NEW REVIEW – Bad Medicine (The Lizzie Hart Mysteries) by Caroline Fardig

SORRY ALL – PICTURES ARE COMING SOON THEY WOULDN’T UPLOAD! 😬

What do a smokin’ hot detective, an evil chiropractor, and a couple of blind dates from hell have in common?

Lizzie has to wrangle them all in the third book of THE LIZZIE HART MYSTERIES series!
MY THOUGHTS 😎💕

Oh man Caroline Fardig is one of my all time favorites!!! This is the third book in The Lizzie Hart Mysteries and you will NOT be disappointed!! Lizzie is seriously one of my favorite reluctant sleuths. That girl can find trouble anywhere…and I’m pretty sure she’s the origin of Murphy’s Law…LOL However it comes to be, she puts her heart and soul into everything she does and somehow it works out as it should. Thank goodness because once you bond with Lizzie you will be comparing her to other detectives and asking yourself “What would Lizzie do?” I’m really not kidding…I read a similar genre book right after Bad Medicine and all I could do was compare that heroine to Lizzie 😊

BLURB

Lizzie Hart is overjoyed that six whole months have passed without a single murder in the sleepy town of Liberty. It’s also been six months since Blake Morgan heartlessly dumped her, but she’s determined to get over him. She’s slimmed down, ready to party, and injury-free, except for a little nagging pain in her ankle. She’s also very single, but her friends are doing everything in their power to fix that—including setting her up on one disastrous blind date after another.

Lizzie’s reprieve is short-lived when an old friend of hers is found dead from an apparent drug overdose. She wants to write it off as bad behavior after having seen the guy cheating on his wife with the new chiropractor in town. However, when she sees that same chiropractor playing doctor with another man who ends up dead, she worries there could be murder afoot.

Doing her best to stay on the right side of the law this time, Lizzie decides to go straight to the police with her suspicions. Unfortunately, the only cop available to speak with her is the stern yet hot new detective who has already given her a traffic ticket and a reprimand for public intoxication. Not surprisingly, he brushes her off, leaving her no choice but to begin snooping on her own. Lizzie soon learns she’s going to need help to get to the bottom of this mystery, but her best partner in crime solving, Blake, has turned into her worst enemy.

Can Lizzie and Blake find a way to work together to catch the killer…or will they kill each other first?

REVIEW – Fighting for You by January Valentine

20140325-121549.jpg

This book is told from Jewelia’s point of view and at first my brain was spinning with the way her mind works! You quickly realize that this is just Jewelia….she’s crazy and erratic and so REAL! You can’t help but fall face first into this story as you get into her mind.

Jewelia and Indigo’s relationship is powerful and turbulent from the moment they first lock eyes in the coffee shop. Jewelia is so out there for you to see (granted it is told from her POV), and Indigo is locked down so tight.

Throughout the story Indigo flashes hot and cold and we can’t begin to decipher what is going on in his big brain. We want so badly for him to open up and show us his pain, but he feels he has to keep that part of himself separate from Jewelia. It is such a struggle to the very end…..

I absolutely loved this book and I am quite sure I will be reading it again, just before the next one comes out! The next book will be told from Indigo’s POV and normally I wouldn’t care to read the same story again……but Indigo is so very damaged and I am dying to see his side of this story. I’m so happy that I will essentially get twice the book as there were many scenes I would have loved to get more of!

Blurb:

Fighting For You is a revised edition of original title: Head Over Wheels New Adult Romance

Jewelia Delarosa isn’t too eager to fight her way through another dead-end relationship. Then her eyes find his. By chance. He’s like wine, rich and intoxicating. One sip rocks her world, and suddenly, she’s drowning in a guy called Indigo. She doesn’t know how to handle her overwhelming emotions. His mood swings. The two women who refuse to let him go. The battle is all uphill. Giving up seems the most sensible thing to do, but once she’s tasted his love, given herself to him body and soul, living without him is not an option. Until she realizes, leaving him seems the only protection from heartbreak.

About to begin his residency at NYU Medical center, Indigo’s plan is to rescue every child who needs him, even if it sucks the life out of him. He doesn’t remember what happiness feels like. His mother haunts him. A wannabe girlfriend stalks him. He doesn’t need another woman in his life. Then a stunning gaze captures his, and while fighting to resist, he sinks deeper into something he never thought could be his. Love has never been in the cards for Indigo. But a girl named Jewelia is as necessary as the blood coursing through his veins.

**This contains graphic sexual content and situations suitable for readers 18**

My thoughts:

This is another one of those books that tries really hard to get that vein in my head to POP!!  Holy smokes, the intensity of feelings between these two is such that nothing else seems important.  They are trying so hard to continue on with their lives and yet keep circling back.  Even if they know it can’t last.

I don’t want to talk about the parts that really hit me between the eyes because you should experience them yourself as they come.  It’s tricky, but I can guarantee you will be hooked on this book very quickly.  You don’t have to read the first one to understand this one, but I highly recommend it.  That book knocked me on my rear end as well!   Grab this book up RIGHT NOW!!!

Excerpt

Nat, if there’s any point in time when you doubt how I feel about you, I want you talk to me, don’t bail on me,” he says piercing me with those gorgeous green eyes.

“I won’t.  We only have to wait a year until you’re home,” I say with a smile.

“Yep, one year.  Plus we’ll see each other when I’m around home for concerts, and you’re going to stay with me a few days when you can,” he says with a knowing look.

“Yes babe, I told you I would,” I say with a smile as I lean in and softly press my lips to his.

Before I can register what he’s doing he has me lying on my back and he’s settled between my thighs kissing me silly.

teaser 3“Round two,” he says with a wink as he quickly moves down my body to my sensitive spot.  He wastes no time getting me ready for more of him.  His tongue hits my sacred spot, making my body jump.  Parker makes sure I’m not going anywhere as he continues his tongue assault on my body, then thrusting two fingers inside my aching walls.

“Please babe, I need you inside of me,” I whimper.

“I will soon, I’m enjoying tasting you,” he says before he dives back in with his tongue making me moan louder.

It doesn’t take Parker long to have me reaching bliss and calling him all sorts of God-like names.

My body feels like mush, but I can’t get enough of him.  I wish I could have him every day, but that’s what makes our times together even more special.

Soon Parker is pushing inside my wet core waking my insides back up.  I lean up towards Parker to kiss him. I wrap my arms around his neck, allowing my fingers to play in his sexy messed-up hair.

I wrap my legs firmly around Parker’s waist wanting him to push even deeper inside of me.

GIVEAWAY and REVIEW – NEVER SAY GOODBYE by T. Renee Fike!!

imageThis was one of those books that absolutely rips your heart out, but still makes everything okay in the end!  Thank goodness, because I was definitely a bit of a mess for one especially heart wrenching part!  Thank you ever so much Ms. Fike for not leaving me hanging with some type of cliffhanger!

This book definitely is one that you will be all in once you start it.  So far every book I have read by this author has pulled me in so deep without even trying. It is harsh and wonderful at the same time.

The short version of the description is that Olivia and Nathan were childhood best friends, doing absolutely EVERYTHING together, until his Dad is transferred out of state. We get this story from Liv’s (or O as Nathan calls her) POV so we know as a child she is devastated by the loss of her best friend.  Then she keeps trying to call him and is always told he is not home or not available until she stops trying and assumes he is too busy to contact her.

Luckily, Brynn moves into Nathan’s old house next doorand thankfully becomes a new best friend.  Next up, college. I just can’t say too much without ruining the way the story unfolds, but it was amazing.  You can feel the build up and sense something is coming, but then BAM it hits you right between the eyes….

This is an awesome book and you should definitely pick it up and enter the giveaway below!!

imageSynopsis:

**This contains graphic sexual content and situations suitable for readers 18+**

Liv’s childhood best friend, who she’s been inseparable from her entire childhood, moves out of state. She’s devastated and forced to move on with her life without “her everything.”

Luckily, she finds a new best friend, Brynn. These two have been best friends for so long; they decide to attend the same college as roommates.

After things don’t turn out so well with a failed relationship, Liv chooses to forgo any romantic commitments. She’s in college after all, so why not enjoy being single and free?

Brynn however is in a happy relationship and wants nothing more than for her best friend to be in one too. As much as she tries to play matchmaker, Liv refuses to be tied down. Unfortunately, when it’s least expected, someone at school makes Liv’s world turn upside-down. As much as she doesn’t want him to affect her, he does.

To make matters worse, Brynn’s boyfriend knows more about Liv then he realizes and eventually he’s able to put the pieces of her past together.

When tragedy strikes, the past and the present collide, allowing secrets to come out and change everything.

Will friendships be torn and goodbye’s said or will they keep their promise and never say goodbye?

I just look at him, shocked and speechless.  Here, I never once forgot about him and he looks like he can’t wait to get away from me. ME.

imageBefore I say anything he starts talking, he lets out a frustrated sign, “Yes O, I do remember you, but that was a long time ago.  You don’t know me or anything about me now,” he states surprising me.

“Why are you being so rude?” I ask confused and hurt, because it’s been so long since I’ve heard him call me by the nickname O, the one he gave to me when we were kids.

“I’m not, I just don’t want anything to do with you,” he says looking intently at me.

“Why not?” I can’t believe he’s being this mean, this guy, one I freaking would have done anything for, and here he is being rude and wants nothing to do with me.  What the hell did I do to him?

“Like I said, I’m not that stupid little boy anymore.  We know nothing about one another and I don’t want to know you.  Stay away from me,” he says harshly.

I feel like I want to cry, but I won’t do that in front of him.  Instead I look him dead in the eyes, “You grew up and became an asshole,” and then I storm off towards the library, never looking back.

The call disconnected before she could reply, and she tossed the phone beside her with a sigh. Pushing up off the bed, she walked towards her wardrobe. Catching movement from the corner of her eye, she turned her head and jolted. Ryan was leaning casually against the doorframe, his arms folded. Licking his lips, he stepped into the room and shut the door behind him.

“Ryan. You scared me.” She reached for the top she’d tossed on her corner chair a few minutes ago and gave him her back.

Fin felt him come up behind her and she shivered. He reached around, grabbed the shirt from her hands and tossed it on the floor. Suddenly breathless, she looked at it, then at his hands where they came to rest on her stomach.

He was an asshole for doing this to her, but her door was ajar. When Ryan heard her voice and saw her lying on her bed in nothing but lacy pink underwear, he couldn’t stop himself. How did she manage to look so innocent and so sexy all at the same time?

His lids lowered as he looked down over her shoulder, watching his hands as they skimmed up the smooth, taut skin of her belly to cup her breasts firmly.

Her body trembled as he rubbed his thumbs across her nipples. He felt them harden beneath the flimsy lace of her bra.

“Fin,” he breathed, running one hand down along the inner edges of her tanned thigh. Fuck. Her legs were smooth and warm, and he wanted them wrapped around him as he sank himself deep inside her.

Burying his head in her neck, Ryan shifted his hand to cup the pretty lace panties between her thighs and took a deep, shuddering breath. God, he shook with the need to taste her.

“Ryan,” she moaned.

With his other hand, he fisted the soft strands of her hair and yanked her head back, exposing the line of her throat, and he fell on it—sucking and biting the sweet skin until he was unbearably hard.

A tap came at the bedroom door and they both froze. “Fin? Are you heading out soon or eating here first?” Jake called out.

“I-I’ll be right out,” she stammered and took a step forward out of Ryan’s arms. She turned around, meeting his eyes.

“Okay,” Jake called back.

Ryan’s blood pulsed so hard it was a roar in his ears as they stared at each other wordlessly. After a beat of silence, she tore her eyes away and opened the wardrobe door.

“Are you happy now?” she hissed as she grabbed a pair of jeans from the shelves.

low-res Fighting Redemption Teaser 7His eyes on her ass, he muttered, “What?”

She threw the jeans at him and he caught them when they hit him square in the chest. “This. Us. Yes, okay? I want you. Is that what you want to hear? That I dream of you too?” she choked out. “Your hands on me, inside of me, and I ache too.”

Ryan took a step towards her.

“Don’t.” She snatched the jeans out of his hands and tugged them on.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured.

Fin turned, rummaging for a top. She pulled one off a hanger and tugged it on furiously. “You’re sorry. I’m sorry. Everybody’s sorry. Well it’s just one sad, fucking sorry situation, isn’t it?”

Christ, Fin was a fiery inferno when she was mad, and it had his dick swelling even harder. “Fin, I—”

“Enough!” She jabbed a finger in his chest. “There’s hurt in there. I know it. You know it, but you’re not going to move on from it until you let that shit out. Whatever you’re doing now isn’t working. Own it, Ryan. Stop letting it own you.” With that she brushed past him and opened the bedroom door. She looked at him over her shoulder before stalking away.

EXCERPT

Two weeks later, he packed his belongings and stole his way into Fin’s room. She wasn’t there, so he stretched out on her bed, hands tucked behind his head, eyes trained on the ceiling, and waited.

It was midnight when she came through the door, giggling as she read a message on her phone. Finished, she tossed it on her bedside table and froze when she caught him lying there in the dark.

He heard her breath catch. “Ryan?”

The lamp by her bed switched on, coating the room in a warm, cozy glow. Fin was illuminated, her skin golden in the soft light, her cheeks flushed with happiness.

“What are you …” She trailed off after meeting his eyes. He knew what she saw. He couldn’t hold any of it back—regret, heartache, and loss for something that had never been his.

“You’re leaving,” she choked out.

Ryan couldn’t speak. He watched her stride to the open window, its sheer white curtains billowing. Staring out into the night, she wiped away tears that spilled over and ran down her cheeks.

He blinked, his own eyes burning. “I’m sorry,” he said eventually.

Fin turned and walked across the room. Sinking to the edge of the bed, she stared down at her hands. “When?”

Ryan unlocked his hands from behind his head and reached for her, pulling her down beside him. She stretched out, tucking her head under his chin. Closing his eyes, he breathed her in, allowing his arms to wrap around her. “In the morning.”

Fin’s hand fisted in his shirt as she let out a sob.

“I have to do this,” he whispered hoarsely. He trailed his fingers through her hair and touched his lips to her forehead.

She started to wipe away the tears on her face, and Ryan took hold of her hand, stilling her. “You understand, don’t you, Fin, why I have to do this?”

Ryan needed to know that she understood he wasn’t leaving her, he was leaving his past, and trying to build a new future with the Army.

“I do.” She choked again and buried her face in his neck, sobs breaking free.

“Don’t,” he whispered thickly. “Please don’t cry. You have such a big future ahead of you. You’re going to do big things with your life. Don’t let anyone stop you from being who you need to be, okay?”

Fin nodded into his neck.

Ryan pushed back so he could look her in the eye. He wouldn’t be there to watch over her anymore, so he needed to know she would look out for herself. “Promise me, Fin.”

“I promise.”

Satisfied, he reached out and switched off the lamp. Thrust into sudden darkness, Ryan laced his fingers in hers and held her close. When her tears dried up, she drifted off into a deep slumber. In the early hours of the morning, he pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, and disentangling himself, he left the room. Having already said his goodbyes to Mike and Julie earlier in the evening, Ryan clicked the door shut softly behind him and left the house, careful not to look back.

That was the last he saw of Finlay Tanner.

Is Caitlin’s brother Ronnie McAllen’s power struggle with Jack for the control of McAllen Industries so intense that he is prepared to kill and frame his brother-in-law? Is the divorce from Jack’s first wife as amicable on her part as they believe it to be? Are his sons prepared to kill for their vast inheritance? Who are the ghosts from Caitlin’s past in Aberdeen, Scotland haunting the marriage? What is the involvement of Jack’s manager at Marine Electronics?

The cast of characters is made even more colorful by the supporting entourage: the big Scott and his gang, Hosé and Heineken, who carry out Douglas McAllen’s “troubleshooting;” McAllens’ bumbling solicitors McKinley and Magnus Laird; Caitlin McAllen’s handymen, Cossack and Levent; and Jeremy’s sidekick, the gay black actor working in the London West End.

While Jack is charged and his murder trial proceeds in the Crown Court under barrister Harry Stavers’ expert care, Jeremy runs a race against time to find the real killer and save his friend’s life, if he is in fact innocent, in a tense tale of love, power, and ambition.

It is easy for me to see that I will be a Jac Wright fan for life.  This book had so many twists and turns!  Just when you think you have the culprit figured out, something else comes to light that damns a different person.  The author gives you some background on each character, but just enough.  Jac Wright has a knack for dropping clues in your lap at just the right moment and really keeping you on the edge of your seat.

Another thing I loved about this story was how believable it was.  It seemed like real people that ended up in some ugly situations.  I don’t think we realize how “suspicious” every day things can be when taken in the wrong context.  Jeremy’s dialogue to himself while some people were being interviewed was so entertaining and I really enjoyed his personality.  He is someone you would like to know in real life.

Also, yes we had the rich people that always have everything in order, but they worked for it.  They weren’t lounging around all day spending money on anything and everything, they were working hard and putting in a lot of hours to keep the company’s running smoothly.

Overall, this was a GREAT mystery/suspense that will keep those pages turning as fast as you can read!!  Grab your copy today!!

More about the author Jac Wright:

Jac Wright is a published poet, a published author, and an electronics engineer educated at Stanford, University College London, and Cambridge who lives and works in England. Jac studied English literature from an early age of three, developing an intense love for poetry, drama, and writing in Speech & Drama classes taken every Saturday for fourteen years, and in subsequent creative writing classes taken during the university years. A published poet, Jac’s first passion was for literary fiction and poetry writing as well as for the dramatic arts. You will find these influences in the poetic imagery and prose, as well as the in the dramatic scene setting and deep character creation in his writing.

These passions – for poetry, drama, literary fiction, and electronic engineering – have been combined to create the first book in the literary suspense series, The Reckless Engineer. There are millions of professionals in high-tech corporate environments who work in thousands of cities in the US, the UK, and the world such as engineers, technicians, technical managers, investment bankers, and corporate lawyers. High drama, power struggles, and human interest stories play out in the arena every day. Yet there are hardly any books that tell their stories; there are not many books that they can identify with. Jac feels compelled to tell their stories in The Reckless Engineer series.

Jac also writes the literary short fiction series, Summerset Tales, in which Wright explores characters struggling against their passions and social circumstances in the semi-fictional region of contemporary England called Summerset, partly the region that Thomas Hardy called Wessex. Some of the tales have an added element of suspense. The collection is published serially in the tradition of Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers and Thomas Hardy’s Wessex Tales. The first tale, The Closet, accompanies the first title in the author’s full-length book, The Reckless Engineer.

REVIEW and GIVEAWAY – Cherry Tart by Scarlett Jade

SCARLETT JADE

Holy cow does Scarlett Jade know how to set your hair on fire!  I absolutely LOVED Cherry and all her issues……and Kellan *sigh*

Book description:

Cherry Kilgore is a plus sized beauty who moonlights at a strip club and goes by the name Tart. She dances to have control over her body and chase away her demons, hiding behind a mask, the only thing that makes her feel free. She loves ’em and leaves ’em, never letting a man get too close. Until she meets a man one night that strips her bare with his electric green eyes.

Kellan Morgan is a playboy with a good heart, who loves a woman with real curves.

When he figures out that the woman hiding under her mask is worth revealing, he decides to play her game… A game that is full of pleasure, pain, going the distance and finally getting the ultimate prize…

Realizing that love can truly be found in the darkest of places

My thoughts:

cherrytartSeriously the heat generated in this book between Cherry and Kellan will set you on FIRE!  “Tart” is a love-’em and leave-’em kind of girl who has been burned in the past.  She LOVES to dance but has always been told she’s too big (too tall and too heavy).  She ends up dancing in a strip club (always with her mask) and is one of the biggest draws….

As her carefully constructed world starts to fall, her instinct is to do what she does best…..RUN!  There is so much intensity, passion, pain, and insecurity built into this book you will find yourself panting, crying and laughing through the entire book!

“Kellan ,I don’t attempt seduction. I succeed at it.” –  Cherry

Don’t miss this amazing journey of two AMAZING people!
