GIVEAWAY and REVIEW – Wanting Him (Needing You #2) by T.R. Fike

Can a person really fall in love in only a few short months? Does distance really make the heart grow fonder?

Natalie, a confident strong individual who has had her fair share of pain and loss has found the one thing that truly makes her happy, Parker Thomas.

Parker is living his dream, on tour with his band mates, King Dread. He’s making a name for himself and his band, wanting nothing more than for Natalie to join him on this new adventure.

Unfortunately due to life, Nat cannot go with him. Between going to school, working, and taking care of her sister, her plate is full.

During the months apart, Nat and Parker are able to grow as individuals and reveal who they really are, and what’s important.

Though distance is hard on both of them; there are people out there who want nothing more than a piece of Parker.

When they are put to the test, will they be able to prove their love for one another or will others step in and take their place?

My thoughts:

This is another one of those books that tries really hard to get that vein in my head to POP!!  Holy smokes, the intensity of feelings between these two is such that nothing else seems important.  They are trying so hard to continue on with their lives and yet keep circling back.  Even if they know it can’t last.

I don’t want to talk about the parts that really hit me between the eyes because you should experience them yourself as they come.  It’s tricky, but I can guarantee you will be hooked on this book very quickly.  You don’t have to read the first one to understand this one, but I highly recommend it.  That book knocked me on my rear end as well!   Grab this book up RIGHT NOW!!!

Nat, if there’s any point in time when you doubt how I feel about you, I want you talk to me, don’t bail on me,” he says piercing me with those gorgeous green eyes.

“I won’t.  We only have to wait a year until you’re home,” I say with a smile.

“Yep, one year.  Plus we’ll see each other when I’m around home for concerts, and you’re going to stay with me a few days when you can,” he says with a knowing look.

“Yes babe, I told you I would,” I say with a smile as I lean in and softly press my lips to his.

Before I can register what he’s doing he has me lying on my back and he’s settled between my thighs kissing me silly.

teaser 3“Round two,” he says with a wink as he quickly moves down my body to my sensitive spot.  He wastes no time getting me ready for more of him.  His tongue hits my sacred spot, making my body jump.  Parker makes sure I’m not going anywhere as he continues his tongue assault on my body, then thrusting two fingers inside my aching walls.

“Please babe, I need you inside of me,” I whimper.

“I will soon, I’m enjoying tasting you,” he says before he dives back in with his tongue making me moan louder.

It doesn’t take Parker long to have me reaching bliss and calling him all sorts of God-like names.

My body feels like mush, but I can’t get enough of him.  I wish I could have him every day, but that’s what makes our times together even more special.

Soon Parker is pushing inside my wet core waking my insides back up.  I lean up towards Parker to kiss him. I wrap my arms around his neck, allowing my fingers to play in his sexy messed-up hair.

I wrap my legs firmly around Parker’s waist wanting him to push even deeper inside of me.

SALE ENDS TODAY!! and REVIEW – The Storms That Fated Us by JP Summers!!

This book was VERY intense! I there were times during this book where I heaved a huge sigh of relief and thought I would finally be able to put the book down for the night……then I would read just one more paragraph (sometimes it was just the next sentence) and BAM something else would happen!

Well I will just tell you up front, this book will suck you in and not let you got until the very end! It is worth every single minute you spend with it! It was emotional and intense and life-threatening. I was thinking toward the beginning that it was going to be two people stuck in this palace of a cabin with no real threat…….BOY WAS I WRONG! They are not only fighting each other and themselves, but Mother Nature too! The place is literally falling down around them! Many times Tia wonders which she should be more afraid of – Mother Nature or Carson’s rage against her!

Grab this book today while it is still on sale for $0.99!!!!!!!

Book Blurb:

As Tia Deltoro’s twenty-third birthday approaches, she looks forward to meeting up with her old high school friends and hitting the ski slopes. But what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway in a beautiful cottage overlooking the mountains turns out to be a hellish nightmare when Tia unmistakably recognizes the person delivering their firewood. It has been five years since Tia graduated from New Holston High, yet she remains emotionally shackled to her past, or more specifically, to her ex-best friend Carson Rodriguez, the man holding the bundle of firewood. When he accuses Tia of setting up their chance meeting she fires back, running him off.

Unfortunately for these two former friends, Mother Nature decides to show them an intervention they’ll never forget! The drastic shift in weather conditions causes Carson to return and wait out the horrific weather conditions in the confinements of the cottage with Tia.

While the storm rages outside, the two distance themselves to opposite sides of the living room for their own protection. Tia keeps herself distracted by looking at the old high school yearbooks she had packed in preparation for planning the upcoming reunion. Through a series of flashbacks, the memories come flooding back. She can’t help but wonder how things could have gone differently if her ex-boyfriend Evan didn’t always lure her back into his corrupting grasp or if Carson’s on-again-off-again girlfriend Erin hadn’t been so conniving. In the end, all of the jealousy, secrets, and lies severed the ties that had held their four year friendship together.

With the strong winds from this blizzard of mass destruction leveling their only means of shelter one window and roof tile at a time, only one question remains… Will Tia and Carson be able to put aside their anger towards each other long enough to survive another storm?

imageThis was one of those books that absolutely rips your heart out, but still makes everything okay in the end!  Thank goodness, because I was definitely a bit of a mess for one especially heart wrenching part!  Thank you ever so much Ms. Fike for not leaving me hanging with some type of cliffhanger!

This book definitely is one that you will be all in once you start it.  So far every book I have read by this author has pulled me in so deep without even trying. It is harsh and wonderful at the same time.

The short version of the description is that Olivia and Nathan were childhood best friends, doing absolutely EVERYTHING together, until his Dad is transferred out of state. We get this story from Liv’s (or O as Nathan calls her) POV so we know as a child she is devastated by the loss of her best friend.  Then she keeps trying to call him and is always told he is not home or not available until she stops trying and assumes he is too busy to contact her.

Luckily, Brynn moves into Nathan’s old house next doorand thankfully becomes a new best friend.  Next up, college. I just can’t say too much without ruining the way the story unfolds, but it was amazing.  You can feel the build up and sense something is coming, but then BAM it hits you right between the eyes….

This is an awesome book and you should definitely pick it up and enter the giveaway below!!

**This contains graphic sexual content and situations suitable for readers 18+**

Liv’s childhood best friend, who she’s been inseparable from her entire childhood, moves out of state. She’s devastated and forced to move on with her life without “her everything.”

Luckily, she finds a new best friend, Brynn. These two have been best friends for so long; they decide to attend the same college as roommates.

After things don’t turn out so well with a failed relationship, Liv chooses to forgo any romantic commitments. She’s in college after all, so why not enjoy being single and free?

Brynn however is in a happy relationship and wants nothing more than for her best friend to be in one too. As much as she tries to play matchmaker, Liv refuses to be tied down. Unfortunately, when it’s least expected, someone at school makes Liv’s world turn upside-down. As much as she doesn’t want him to affect her, he does.

To make matters worse, Brynn’s boyfriend knows more about Liv then he realizes and eventually he’s able to put the pieces of her past together.

When tragedy strikes, the past and the present collide, allowing secrets to come out and change everything.

Will friendships be torn and goodbye’s said or will they keep their promise and never say goodbye?

I just look at him, shocked and speechless.  Here, I never once forgot about him and he looks like he can’t wait to get away from me. ME.

imageBefore I say anything he starts talking, he lets out a frustrated sign, “Yes O, I do remember you, but that was a long time ago.  You don’t know me or anything about me now,” he states surprising me.

“Why are you being so rude?” I ask confused and hurt, because it’s been so long since I’ve heard him call me by the nickname O, the one he gave to me when we were kids.

“I’m not, I just don’t want anything to do with you,” he says looking intently at me.

“Why not?” I can’t believe he’s being this mean, this guy, one I freaking would have done anything for, and here he is being rude and wants nothing to do with me.  What the hell did I do to him?

“Like I said, I’m not that stupid little boy anymore.  We know nothing about one another and I don’t want to know you.  Stay away from me,” he says harshly.

I feel like I want to cry, but I won’t do that in front of him.  Instead I look him dead in the eyes, “You grew up and became an asshole,” and then I storm off towards the library, never looking back.

REVIEW – Her Rebellious Heart by Marian McBride

RebelliousHeartCoverBook Blurb:

Bridget Campbell is more interested in music than men. In fact, she may be the only girl in the Scottish lowlands who isn’t looking for a husband. But when her estranged grandfather’s health begins to decline and he asks her to move into his castle, Bridget is introduced to a handsome Highlander who becomes a rival for her attention. Although perfect strangers, there’s a connection between Bridget and Aidan MacLeod that she can’t ignore. Can she stand up to the men in her life who are pressuring her to settle down? At first uneasy about leaving her parents’ modest home to live at Ty-Runach Castle, Bridget feels pressured to accept her grandfather’s invitation. Robert had distanced himself from her mother when she married a man from a rival clan. The ancient feud between the MacDonalds and the Campbells broke her family apart, but maybe Bridget can heal the rift?

But someone clearly doesn’t want her at the castle. Strange noises in the night and a frightening attack nearly send Bridget running from the keep. And then there’s Aidan. Rumors of his reputation as a ladies man convince her to stay away lest she become the highlander’s conquest. Yet her rebellious heart beats faster whenever Aidan is near. A single kiss lights a fire within that threatens to consume her. Can she resist Aidan’s advances and rein in her runaway heart?

This was such a sweet, romantic, historical novella! I loved that the heroine, Bridget, was a strong girl with goals. This book is a relatively quick read, and is pretty suspenseful. I also really enjoyed getting a feel for what life was like in this era. Many historical books don’t give you much background, but just jump into the story. I don’t generally read historical so I prefer the scene to be set for me and this book was perfect! What I really liked was that it gave me some background, but didn’t overdo it.

We meet Bridget who is a very good musician and has a true passion for it. She wants to teach music and knows she will eventually have to leave home to do so, since there is already a great teacher nearby. When she is asked to visit her estranged Grandfather and be Hostess for his dinner party she is unsure. Then she finds out he wants her to come and LIVE with him!

She also meets Aiden, who is handsome, but irritates her more than anything else.  He is arrogant and seems to expect she will just fall for him without any effort.  When she doesn’t and continues to rebuff him, he doesn’t know what to do.  The tragedy strikes…..will the pair realize their real love?

About the Author

Marian McBride is an American author of Scottish descent. When she feels like honoring her roots, she plays her Celtic harp, but not as well as she’d like. Occasionally, she sings along, usually when she wants to punish her family.

Marian is not a particularly good Scot. She doesn’t enjoy haggis or bagpipes, but she does love a good Highland Games, particularly when men in kilts do the caber toss. “Her Rebellious Heart” is Marian’s sole novella. She hopes by showing some Scottish pride in her writing, her clansmen will forgive for not visiting home often.

REVIEW – Discretion by David Balzarini

81J51nem6HL._SL1500_I’m not entirely sure where to begin on this review, but I will start with the most basic info…..the books description! :)

The past defines us. For one man, it’s inescapable.

Fifteen years ago…On a beautiful September afternoon, Colin Wyle was boating with his girlfriend Natalie Merian when she disappeared. Natalie’s politician father assumed the worst. A media storm ensued, causing panic in the area and Colin came under suspicion. Desperate to find her he sought help from a mysterious source, forcing Colin to make the hardest choice of his life: commit a crime or lose her forever.

Now, Colin has a high-profile career and a fiancée. When a phone call unearths a secret federal investigation, Colin is forced to reckon with the past. And pay for his sins.

When I say I don’t know where to begin its a good thing, because this book was so thought provoking! With the exception of the Prologue, this book is told through the eyes of Colin. We begin the story with Colin as a teenage boy with a typical problem…….he’s afraid to talk to his crush Natalie. Suffice to say he gets over that and they begin dating. It is around this time that Colin gains a new friend… his head!

It is toward the end of the summer that Natalie mysteriously disappears off Colins dads boat, and with this Colin consults with his friend Christel for help locating her. Christel is the friend in Colins head and she remains silent for 3 agonizing days. When the silence is broken, Colin is led to where Natalie is being held and is told to kill in order to get Natalie back.

After the situation is resolved we move ahead 15 years and Colin is very successful in his career, and life, due to the long-time help from Christel. Now the FBI is looking at the 15 year old kidnapping in relation to a large crime ring.

This book really sucks you in from the very beginning as you are given a view of the kidnapping from Natalies point of view.  The book did have a bit of a stream of consciousness feel, but for the most part was very smooth. Occassionally the more stressed out Colin was the more off his thoughts were, but I think that is a true picture of real life.  Overall, this book was a real page turner and I couldn’t wait to see where it was leading. I wasn’t completely satisfied with the conclusion because I felt I still had a few questions, but again I feel like that is a true representation of life. Nothing is ever wrapped up in a pretty bow for us. :-)

REVIEW – Arielle Immortal Quickening (Book 4 of the Immortal Rapture Series) by Lilian Roberts

A fatal night… College co-ed Arielle Lloyd is on vacation with her immortal love, Sebastian Gaulle, when they receive word of a dreadful accident. Her dear friend Gabrielle hovers near death. But it’s much worst for her beloved friends, Eva and Ian. In spite of Eva’s magical abilities, their lives have been cut tragically short.
An immortal choice… Troy Vasser’s only love is Gabrielle, but on the night of the accident, his deepest concern is for their dying friends. When the life force within Ian and Eva flickered dangerously low, Troy had to make a hard choice.
He could either let them die or lose their humanity and live as immortals. So he did the only thing he could: he gave them immortality. Now it is up to Arielle to break the news to Eva before the transformation is complete.
A quest for vengeance… Danger continues to stalk Arielle’s life. Unknown to her, her new professor is an immortal, and he is furious when discovers that Arielle is wearing an amulet that should be owned by immortals only.
Sebastian’s nemesis, Annabel, has also not given up on her quest to destroy Arielle. What Annabel doesn’t realize is that Arielle’s circle of friends has drastically changed. There are two newly minted immortals that adore her and have vowed to protect her.
After reading the 4th book of this series I can guarantee you will be pleading for Book 5!!  These books are not tragic cliffhangers like some series, each book has its own ending, but it simply isn’t the end of the whole story.  I love that, because I get to take a breath between stories and feel like all is well for a short time.  Of course, then I pick up the next in the series….
This book is fraught with tension and fear and love and friendship.  The friends all worry what each other will think and if they can still be friends.  You get to read about the fascinating transformation to Immortal.  That is another thing that is so nice about these books, you are not left wondering how or why, you are given explanations on how these beings can live in our real world.
This book in particular, answered some of the withstanding questions I had and even a few I didn’t think of.  The showdown with Annabel when she realizes that Ian and Eva are no longer merely human is sweet justice! Again, this is not the end of the series, but man there is some great fighting.  There are also some very serious injuries that will have you on the edge of your seat.  Especially, Arielle’s injuries…..

REVIEW – Arielle Immortal Passion (Book 3 of the Immortal Rapture Series) by Lilian Roberts

An interlude in paradise… St. Jean De Luz, in the south of France, is the gorgeous setting of one of Sebastian Gaulle’s family estates. It is to this lush place that the Immortal takes his love, Arielle Lloyd, and her friends, to relax and spend their holiday exploring the surroundings and learning about his family’s history.
A snake in the garden… There is no safety in this paradise, however, as Sebastian’s past continues to haunt him. The Immortal, Annabel, still lusts for vengeance on Sebastian and seeks to destroy his new love. While exploring, Arielle’s life is endangered when she discovers dangerous hidden strangers occupying the house.
Evil that will not die… Trapped, threatened, and nearing her last breath, Arielle must call on the powerful magic of her friend, Eva, for help. Sebastian must rally his Immortal friends and family to protect his love and expel the evil before his paradise is forever lost.
I didn’t think it was possible, but this 3rd book in the series was even MORE intense than the first two!  This book was wonderful and scary all in the same breath.  I think if I were a nail biter I would have none after reading this book!
Sebastian takes them all to his beautiful family estate for a nice relaxing holiday.  Of course with Annabel that will never happen. Arielle and Eva stay home from horseback riding and decide to do some exploring.  And WOW!  You won’t expect what they find, or what happens next.  I was literally holding my breath and stomping my feet!
Lilian Roberts definitely knows how to write suspense!  What I liked was I HAD to keep reading to see how it would turn out…..what I mean is that there was no obvious answer that I was shouting to the characters. Usually, I can see where a story is leading and I am thinking “Why don’t they do this? Or that?”.  I love that I had no clue how it was going to turn out and if everyone was going to be okay….

REVIEW – Arielle Immortal Seduction (Book 2 of the Immortal Rapture Series) by Lilian Roberts

A time of waiting… Arielle Lloyd has found the love of her life, but his business as the owner of an international company calls him away. She longs for Sebastian, but stays busy with school, and finds comfort in spending time with her best friends, Gabby and Eva. It is during Sebastian’s absence that a stranger enters Arielle’s life at the university and threatens to shatter her joy with a vicious assault.
A time of renewal… The return of Sebastian Gaulle, Arielle’s Immortal love, brings a return of joy. Her terrifying experience has her rethinking her vow of remaining chaste until marriage. Arielle already knows Sebastian is the one man she will love for eternity. Sebastian has longed for Arielle, like no other. He has carried a ring in his pocket for her almost from the first moment they met. He’s only waiting for the right moment to pledge his eternal love for her.
A time of danger… But Sebastian’s past still threatens their future. A trio of jealous Immortal women has vowed Sebastian will belong to no other woman for centuries to come. Arielle, Sebastian, and their friends must join together to fight off the Immortals bent on utter destruction, if they are ever to find their eternal happiness.
This second installment was just as riveting and exciting as the first! Arielle and Sebastian have to spend some time apart as he travels for work.  This gives Arielle all sorts of time to think and decide what is truly important in life.  Of course, it also gives trouble time to find her….
I said this about Arielle: Immortal Awakening, (Book 1 of the Immortal Rapture Series) and it held true through the second book as well.  The way Lilian Roberts describes the surroundings is very much like poetry.  You can almost smell the flowers.
This book has you feeling the misery as Arielle and Sebastian are to be separated for a while so he can attend to business and she can finish school.  They can get through it as long as they have each other.  Unfortunately, those bent on seeing Sebastian miserable will try to take advantage of the separation.  Not to mention the suspicious new professor Arielle has…..

REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY – Fighting Redemption by Kate McCarthy!!!!

FightingRedemption_EbookIf you still have not picked up a book by Kate McCarthy, what are you waiting for?!?  There is so much emotion in these books that you physically feel what is happening in the lives of these characters.

I don’t think I can express in words how much you are LIVING the character’s life while reading this book.  Each time Ryan had to walk away, my heart hurt.  And Jake, oh my God, just I can’t say anything about that without spoiling bits and pieces.  Except that Jake is Fin’s brother and Ryan’s best friend.

I’ve included the synopsis below, but I have to tell you, you NEED to read this book.  If you are not hooked on Kate McCarthy by the first chapter, I’ll……..well I don’t know what I will do but I would be surprised!!  :-)

So basically, Fin grows up following around her big brother and his best friend.  Ryan and Jake meet in 5th grade and become more like brothers than friends.  Ryan’s home life is pretty unbearable and Jake’s family takes him in an treats him as their own whenever he is there.  Ryan has always known he wanted to be a soldier and it doesn’t take Jake long to want it too.  So the boys join the Army when they are of age………

That’s it, that’s all I’m giving you for now because the journey this book takes you on is LIFE CHANGING!  It will really make you sit up straighter and think about what is important!

Ryan Kendall is broken. He understands pain. He knows the hand of violence and the ache of loss. He knows what it means to fail those who need you. Being broken doesn’t stop him wanting the one thing he can’t have; Finlay Tanner. Her smile is sweet and her future bright. She’s the girl he grew up with, the girl he loves, the girl he protects from the world, and from himself.

At nineteen, Ryan leaves to join the Australian Army. After years of training he becomes an elite SAS soldier and deploys to the Afghanistan war. His patrol undertakes the most dangerous missions a soldier can face. But no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go.

Returning home after six years, one look is all it takes to know he can’t live without her. But sometimes love isn’t enough to heal what hurts. Sometimes people like him can’t be fixed, and sometimes people like Finlay deserve more than what’s left.

This is a story about war and the cost of sacrifice. Where bonds are formed, and friendships found. Where those who are strong, fall hard. Where love is let go, heartache is born, and heroes are made. Where one man learns that the hardest fight of all, is the fight to save himself.

The call disconnected before she could reply, and she tossed the phone beside her with a sigh. Pushing up off the bed, she walked towards her wardrobe. Catching movement from the corner of her eye, she turned her head and jolted. Ryan was leaning casually against the doorframe, his arms folded. Licking his lips, he stepped into the room and shut the door behind him.

“Ryan. You scared me.” She reached for the top she’d tossed on her corner chair a few minutes ago and gave him her back.

Fin felt him come up behind her and she shivered. He reached around, grabbed the shirt from her hands and tossed it on the floor. Suddenly breathless, she looked at it, then at his hands where they came to rest on her stomach.

He was an asshole for doing this to her, but her door was ajar. When Ryan heard her voice and saw her lying on her bed in nothing but lacy pink underwear, he couldn’t stop himself. How did she manage to look so innocent and so sexy all at the same time?

His lids lowered as he looked down over her shoulder, watching his hands as they skimmed up the smooth, taut skin of her belly to cup her breasts firmly.

Her body trembled as he rubbed his thumbs across her nipples. He felt them harden beneath the flimsy lace of her bra.

“Fin,” he breathed, running one hand down along the inner edges of her tanned thigh. Fuck. Her legs were smooth and warm, and he wanted them wrapped around him as he sank himself deep inside her.

Burying his head in her neck, Ryan shifted his hand to cup the pretty lace panties between her thighs and took a deep, shuddering breath. God, he shook with the need to taste her.

“Ryan,” she moaned.

With his other hand, he fisted the soft strands of her hair and yanked her head back, exposing the line of her throat, and he fell on it—sucking and biting the sweet skin until he was unbearably hard.

A tap came at the bedroom door and they both froze. “Fin? Are you heading out soon or eating here first?” Jake called out.

“I-I’ll be right out,” she stammered and took a step forward out of Ryan’s arms. She turned around, meeting his eyes.

“Okay,” Jake called back.

Ryan’s blood pulsed so hard it was a roar in his ears as they stared at each other wordlessly. After a beat of silence, she tore her eyes away and opened the wardrobe door.

“Are you happy now?” she hissed as she grabbed a pair of jeans from the shelves.

low-res Fighting Redemption Teaser 7His eyes on her ass, he muttered, “What?”

She threw the jeans at him and he caught them when they hit him square in the chest. “This. Us. Yes, okay? I want you. Is that what you want to hear? That I dream of you too?” she choked out. “Your hands on me, inside of me, and I ache too.”

Ryan took a step towards her.

“Don’t.” She snatched the jeans out of his hands and tugged them on.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured.

Fin turned, rummaging for a top. She pulled one off a hanger and tugged it on furiously. “You’re sorry. I’m sorry. Everybody’s sorry. Well it’s just one sad, fucking sorry situation, isn’t it?”

Christ, Fin was a fiery inferno when she was mad, and it had his dick swelling even harder. “Fin, I—”

“Enough!” She jabbed a finger in his chest. “There’s hurt in there. I know it. You know it, but you’re not going to move on from it until you let that shit out. Whatever you’re doing now isn’t working. Own it, Ryan. Stop letting it own you.” With that she brushed past him and opened the bedroom door. She looked at him over her shoulder before stalking away.

I wanted to take a minute to apologize for “ignoring” the submissions for review from my new Google form on the Contact page!  I am so sorry to those that submitted, I had the email notifications turned off (it was my first use of Google forms) and it just occurred to me that it was odd I hadn’t received any.

So, to make a long story short —–  I’M SORRY!!!  I have them now and I have also turned on new notifications so I WILL receive them from now on.  I will be getting back to you all that submitted BEFORE the end of the year!!

Thank you for your patience as I didn’t realize how much I still had to learn….. :-)
