September Tango by Scarlett Jade and Llerxt the 13th

September Tango CoverI just finished September Tango by Scarlett Jade and Llerxt the 13th!  What a sweet and wonderful story!!  I love that Calvin came in and picked up the pieces for Zoe as though it was always his job to do.  There was no question, he just knew she was his.

This is definitely a Part 1, but it has a satisfying conclusion on it’s own.  I was definitley left wanting for the next in the series, though!

Just check out this description (taken from Amazon):

** How often do you get a book that has a guy writing the male POV? Not often. This book is written by Scarlett Jade and her husband, Llerxt the 13th, a whirlwind romance between a US Soldier and the girl back home he should have always loved to begin with. Loosely based on their own romance. **
64K words.
The town of Major is nothing more than a major disappointment for Zoe Parker. She is living in a grey world after the death of her beloved Momma, and can’t seem to shake the growing depression that threatens to consume her. Things only get worse when she discovers her longtime boyfriend is banging every chick in town. Her daddy is gone most nights, and all she can think about is the boy who really caught her eye in high school more than five years ago… The one with gorgeous dark skin and smoldering eyes…
Too bad he was dating her best friend. Now she floats around, moving through the daily routine with small dreams about getting away from the small town, and finding a real man to claim her heart…
Staff Sergeant Calvin Hall of the US Army is finally putting his boots back on American soil for some R&R. It’s been five years since he joined the military, and he hasn’t looked back since. After dealing with his own troubling past, he wants to lay back and enjoy some time to put it all behind him. But fate has other plans for him… A beautiful woman snags his attention the first day in town and the pull between them is too strong to resist. The problem? She is his ex-girlfriend’s best friend, she is just as broken as he is, and he has a war he has to get back to in two weeks.
Who says a summer romance ever has to end? What if thousands of miles and a war separated you? Would you keep dancing? Or would it simply be… a September Tango?

This is a book with a man whose eyes are opened to someone he never noticed before. Once he sees her in his home town, he can’t waste a minute. He’s on a limited time frame and he wants to secure their relationship before he goes. He wants her to wait for him, but is it fair to ask?

The woman has not had great luck and is a little wary, but she knows him, had a little crush on him in high school. She also knows he’s the type of man you can put your faith in.

I am sure you will love this story as much as I did…..AND anticipate the next story as much as I do. I really loved the dual POVs! Especially in the beginning when they see each other in the airport! I love that the POVs backtrack a little so you see what each one is thinking for the same sequence of events. Bottom line – This is a engaging story that you really want to keep going! I really don’t think you want to miss this one!!!

Bittersweet Junction by Ivy Sinclair BOOK BLITZ!!

Bittersweet Junction by Ivy Sinclair

Publication date: 2013

Genre: NA Contemporary Romance

I need to rave a little more about this book, because I guarantee you will LOVE it!!  Welcome to her blog tour and be sure to check it out.  I think we will see much more in the future from Ivy Sinclair and I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

Best friends once, lovers never, yet an attraction that can’t be ignored.
Five years ago, Julia Bell walked away from her life the moment her high school diploma was in her hand. She left her family and friends behind to start over and escape the chokehold of small town life in Benton Hill. But an urgent call from her little sister brings Julia back to her hometown wholly unprepared for what awaits her.
Ben Miller was always the nice guy. Just before high school graduation, he stepped out of that role hoping to capture the heart of the woman he loved. Instead, in quick succession he lost the girl, and the future he worked so hard to achieve.
Even though Julia and Ben are drawn to each other, echoes of the past block them at every turn. Secrets are exposed, and reality needs to be dealt with if they can ever hope to move past the bittersweet junction that ripped them apart.

See my review of Bittersweet Junction here:

Ivy Sinclair cut her romance teeth on classics like Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, An Affair to Remember, and Sabrina. She is a firm believer in true love, a happily ever after ending, and the medicinal use of chocolate to cure any ailment of the heart. Ivy’s guilty pleasures include sushi, endless Starbucks lattes, and wine. Readers of Ivy’s stories can expect smoldering sweet stories of romance that tug at the heartstrings.

YOU WILL PAY by Eve Rabi

cover-you-will-pay-9-may-20131Note:  This book is about domestic abuse, abuse and contains strong language, violence and sexual violence.

Let me tell you that Eve Rabi KNOWS how to do REVENGE!! YOU WILL PAY gives real, gritty details of abuse and revenge and is not for the faint of heart! That being said, again this is a book of Eve Rabi’s that I could NOT put down. There was so much strong emotion it was like a physical work out! My heart was racing at the tense moments, and melting at the tender ones. That is the absolute best thing for me about any author, and Eve Rabi definitely delivers!

Here is what the book is about:

“The part I hated most about my miserable existence – the bedroom.
I hated the way he demanded sex just about every night, forced me into perverted positions and the fact that he was insatiable.
Hated the way he roughed me up during sex, grabbed my hair, twisted my neck, the way his hand fastened around my throat while thrusting vigorously into me, the way he took total control over my body and my soul and dominated me in the harshest possible way, the way he demanded I orgasm in record time, then got irritated when I didn’t, the way I had to fake it just to please him, the way I broke down and cried in the bathroom so many times after sex with him, the man I had chosen to have and to hold.

Obsessed With Me – When she rejected him, he set out to destroy her by Eve Rabi

Obsessed With Me is a modern-day love story.

APRIL 1993,

One year before apartheid officially ended and

Nelson Mandela became president.

Warning: Contains violence, strong language, racial slurs, sex scenes, sexual violence.

I am reviewing both book 1 and book 2 in this post because you CANNOT read one without the other.  The first one has a 50 Shades-worthy ending and I didn’t even pause as I opened the second book…..

Eve tells stories that are so extreme you will not be able to put them down!

 Description for the 2 books:

Tarago Jakobus was 6’4”, intelligent, arrogant, and extremely wealthy with a Midas touch.  He was also openly racist, politically incorrect and a chauvinistic pig who told offensive jokes.

He loved to party and was used to women vying for his attention.  So when his eyes fell on Tanin, he expected her to just melt into his arms and be grateful that he even looked her way.

To his utter surprise, she was totally unimpressed with his wealth, thought he was an uneducated buffoon and publicly rejected him.  Of course, he was shocked and humiliated by her response.

But no woman had ever turned Tarago down before, and he found her fascinating. He became obsessed with her and decided to win her over his way – destroy all that is precious to her, so that she would have no choice but to need him.  If that didn’t work, he’d switch to plan ‘B’ – take away her freedom and throw her ass in jail.

And being the absolute bastard that he was, he did.

My thoughts:

Wow is about all I could utter when I finished these two books!  That is a great wow, by the way! :-)  Eve Rabi has a very extreme way of telling a story that compels you to read EVERY LAST WORD.

In book 1 Tanin works for her rude, crude, racist jerk of a boss as a waitress in his restaurant.  He is known to pick a waitress for drinks each evening, which sometimes lasts for a few days…. One night he decides he wants Tanin, but Tanin is dating the love of her life and not interested in the big brute’s awful ways.  She turns him down (rather politely, I thought), and he says essentially “No problem!” and chooses another girl.  Tanin is relieved, but unfortunately that is short-lived….

The antics of the characters in this book will have you cracking up, and the glimpses into the real people behind the public persona (*cough* Tarago *cough*) will have you turning page after page for what happens next.

At the end of book 1 I was shouting “NOOOOO!” and scrambling to get into book 2.  Trust me when I tell you to have it bought and ready……

When all is said and done I would recommend this set of books to one and all.  The adrenaline rush craziness is just so much fun to read! I can’t wait to read more by Eve Rabi (in fact, you will soon also see my review of YOU WILL PAY! :-)

In a Heartbeat by Hilary Storm

91QC6n-abxL._SL1500_What a fantastic story!! This story was so much fun from the very beginning!!

But first….the description:

Eaven Bennett is a college student with a passion for photography. She has high hopes of completing college and starting a new life as she moves away from her hometown with her best friend, Ivy Adams. Her last boyfriend ruined any chance of her trusting a guy ever again.

Talon Walker is the dark and intriguing drummer for the up and coming band ‘Rebel Walking’. His past has left him empty with no desire for a relationship. That is until he meets Eaven.

One minute your heart is filled with love, the next your entire life comes crashing down. Everything can change in a heartbeat. Can Eaven and Talon overcome the obstacles in their way and find love?

My thoughts……

Hilary Storm has a wonderful way of weaving a story. This one had love, romance, characters deeper than the ocean, adventure, drama…..the list goes on. I really enjoy it when authors give you multiple character’s POVs….when it’s done right! This book was DEFINITELY done RIGHT!!

in a heartbeat teaser 1

You can’t help but feel the immediate connection between Eaven and Talon. The different POVs make Talon’s initial silence intriguing, and like Eaven we can’t help but want to know him.

Eaven is just as interesting…..she’s both vulnerable and strong. She’s terrified of being hurt again, but can’t stop herself from falling for Talon.

You will love this book and ALL the characters. This series is going to be a MUST read for me! Pick it up from one of the links below and be sure to follow the author so you know when the next one comes out! I can see this series going on for a long time with the wonderful people Hilary Storm has created.

Bittersweet Junction by Ivy Sinclair – New Release!!!

BittersweetJunctionCoverThis was such a great story!  I was given the chance to beta read Bittersweet Junction and I was hooked from the beginning…..I mean the visuals that Ivy Sinclair created are fantastic!

Here is the book’s description (taken from Goodreads):

The first line of the story had me picturing all sorts of comical things (does this silo exist Ivy Sinclair?  I feel like I have seen it before….).

“As she passed the tall single silo with the smiley face on it, she felt as if it taunted her.”

This other small passage was something fun and gives you a peek into the characters and how well they know each other.

Julia crossed her arms. “I’m not staying. You’re not going to change my mind on that. This is a train wreck waiting to happen.”

Ben shrugged and tried another tack. “Your dad won’t be home until later, and I’m sure you want to see him before you go. You drove all this way. It looks to me like your options are going back inside to hang out with your sister, or taking a ride with me.”

It worked like a charm. Julia was inside his car ten seconds later. “I’m never speaking to Clary again,” she said sullenly.

Ben didn’t hesitate to hit the gas. He glanced over at Julia and saw that she was deep in thought staring out the window. It struck him again by how lovely she looked with her hair curled around her shoulders framing her pale skin. Ben gulped and turned his eyes back to the road.

“I need a drink,” Julia declared.

Ben grinned. That was something he could do and would keep him out of trouble with Maggie. Double bonus. “That I can help with.”

This book had me so enthralled I was practically hyperventilating with Julia, as well as feeling the anger, joy, sadness, and finally the ever elusive PEACE.  Julia is hit time and time again in the beginning of the story and it is so wonderful to watch her reach inside and pull it together.  You will laugh, roll your eyes, and maybe even cry a little, but I guarantee you won’t regret reading this beautiful story!!

Take a Chance on Love by Christi Williams

TakeaChanceonLoveCoverI just loved this book.  It was full of people wanting to do the right thing, but not quite sure what the right thing was….

Book Description:

When Chancie de Leur meets highway patrol trooper Micah Taylor one frosty Wyoming night, instant sexual heat kindles between them. Chancie’s a lonely young widow who owns her own business and Micah is divorced, so there shouldn’t be anything holding them back. But Micah wonders if Chancie’s obvious wealth might become an issue, or the fact that she’s apparently the second woman in his life who has zero interest in ever having his baby.
Micah has no idea of the real problem between him and Chancie, until he meets her son. Ten-year-old Jamie de Leur is determined to break up his mom and her lawman, and Micah questions whether any relationship with Chancie is worth dealing with the spoiled kid she’s raising.
In a showdown over Jamie breaking the law, Micah has to decide if he wants to be Chancie’s cop—or her family man.

My Thoughts

This book dives right in from the very first page. Chancie is a whirlwind of activity and ruthless control over her business….mostly. She tends to charge first and ask questions later so the debt is piling up.  One of the very best things about this book is that both Chancie and Micah recognize that they have an instant connection.  But because Jamie (Chancie’s son) is so bitter and angry Micah is going to step down.  He refuses to make her choose, or cause any extra tension and pressure on the relationship.  He wants to back out now so it won’t be so hard later, but it is killing him to be apart from Chancie.
There is also the small issue that Chancie is not going to allow him out of her life completely!  She refuses to let go of Micah.  She is trying to find some balance between her son, her job, Micah, and herself……no problem, right?  I guarantee you will love the adventure of finding out what happens in this book and I couldn’t believe the little twists and turns.  At first I thought Micah’s attitude toward Jamie was harsh, but the more I read of the boy, the more I tended to agree.

By the end I was scrambling for tissue because you can’t help but get all choked up.  You won’t regret checking out this book!  Don’t wait any longer!!!
